In Conclusion

So in conclusion after looking at the evidence for both sides of this urban legend. I have to conclude by saying its an absolute falsehood. I say this because we haven't heard or seen from this monster in over 30 years. Also, numerous amounts of admitted hoaxers have stepped forward admitting their responsibility in some cases. Quite frankly, this is something I totally would have been a part of in highschool I can totally see my group of friends dressing up and terrorizing local people on the lake for something to do. It is almost guaranteed that this is all that was. A couple nights of terror turned this area upside down and to this day we still are hearing "Goatman" stories told around campfires. Pranksters deserve their credit they changed this area and added an interesting folktale to keep on passing on through generations.

Evidence Against

Dozens of reported sightings have emerged some a little more convincing than others. But, most logical thinkers say if the creature does or did exist why haven't we seen him since 1969? Also say one of he numerous trackers that report shooting the beast, actually did shoot and kill this "Goatman." Some would say where are the parents or off spring off this creature. Thinking he is the only one of the kind is absurb and well quite frankly impossible. What makes this legend the most difficult to want to believe is all the reported pranksters who have came out saying they started this legend and kept it going as a joke. And according CryptoReports about the same time school started back up that year the goat man coincidentally disappeared. So for every person that reported seeing the goat man there where ones that came out reporting to be the goatman. Lake Worth is a small town and rumors spread quick around these parts. One last bit of evidence hurting the reality of this beast is the local parents spread this tale around to try and keep teeneagers away from the lake at night. Which is a good idea seeing as who would want to bring their significant other to a romantic spot on the lake that may be over ran with the "Goatman"

Evidence For

There have been numerous accounts of goatman sightings. But this one in particular really got the legend going. In the summer of 1969, Lake Worth produced one of Texas's most famous legends. Eyewitness reports state that on the early morning of July 10th Mr. and Mrs. John Reichart and two other couples rushed into the Fort Worth Police Station. These 6 indiviudals where absoulutely horrified, they claim to have been parked along the edge of Lake Worth around midnight when all the sudden....a huge beast jumped right out from the woods and landed on one of their cars. They all claim this monster was a cross between a goat and a man hence the legends name, "Goatman." Even though the police were a little skeptical at first they had to take this claim seriously. So four police units rushed to the scene only to find the scratched and dented car. Goatman was no where in sight. Although not even 24 hours later similiar incidents were reported. Police played them off as local pranksters. But the victims involved say otherwise and swear what they witnessed was real and by no means tied to a prank. To this day those victimized by the goatman believe he still exists and is somewhere out there....waiting.

Background

Sightings of this goat like creature began some 40 years ago. The reports of this creature had almost all of Texas talking at first. The initial reports say the "Goat Man" was a huge, hairy, 7 foot tall beast. This supposed monster lives on Lake Worth on a place called Greer Island, most of us now know this as Goat Island. This island is a pretty happening place over the summer. All sorts of Fort Worth residence anchor their boats and party on this island during the prime boating months. Now some may ask well what is this monster known for that makes him so scary. Well other than the appearance reports say he steals dogs, hoops and hollers, and also chucks tires.

Introduction

The Lake Worth Monster AKA The "Goat Man." Most of us from around this area have heard rumors about this creature. I chose to do a little research and see what I could find on this urban legend because it is familiar to these parts and maybe I can find some information that those interested will enjoy. Personally I am not so sure this monster exists. I may have to see one of his tire-chucking rants for myself to call this monster the real-deal.
